Application Process

 

 

APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATION NOTIFICATION

Applications for the I.B.E.W. / N.E.C.A. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW)) / (National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)) Construction Electrician Apprenticeship (Commercial) Program, under the jurisdiction of the Phoenix Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, will be accepted on a weekly basis. APPLICANTS WILL BE SELECTED WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, GENDER, COLOR, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR DISABILITY. Applications will be accepted EVERY THURSDAY from 7:30AM to 10:30AM & 12:30PM to 2:30PM.

 

SECTION I:

In order to apply for the apprenticeship , AN APPLICANT MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS AND COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES:


1. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. To fill out an application, we will need to see your valid drivers license or other Government issued picture ID. You will need to pay a NON-REFUNDABLE $25.00 application fee at this time. We accept cash, checks, money orders or credit cards.

2. The following documents must be brought in to the Training Center at the time of application:

  • High School diploma / transcripts or G.E.D.

  • Written documentation of two semesters of High School Algebra with a grade of "C" or higher, or one semester of College Algebra with a minimum grade of "C" or higher reflected on an official transcript. Or completion of the National JATC Tech Math Course online course.

  • Documentation of any previous electrical experience.

  • Any college or trade school transcripts.

  • Veterans may also submit a copy of Form DD214.

3. Applicants will then be scheduled for, and complete the American Institutes for Research (AIR) competency exam. This test is at no cost to the applicant.

4. Once the applicant has provided ALL OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION, the applicant will be eligible for an interview. The school will contact you of your interview appointment by mail.

 

 

SECTION II:

Due to the changing environment and the complexity of today's Construction Industry, there is a demand for organizing within the jurisdiction of the local unions. Therefore, by referral of the Business Manager of I.B.E.W. Local 640, the Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee (J.A.T.C.) will, under certain considerations, evaluate and bring individuals into the Apprenticeship Program under the "Organizing" classification.

The Joint Apprenticeship Committee will evaluate and place these individuals into the program with consideration for past work experience, education and credit of time. ALL INDIVIDUALS WILL RECEIVE EQUAL CONSIDERATION. This will be the sole decision of the Phoenix Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.
